Latino Community Loses Iconic Artist

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Local NewsFrancisco Mendoza, often referred to as “Pancho” or “Panchito,” by his students, has passed away, leaving behind a tremendous legacy in the Pilsen community. As a respected artist and a great example for creative youth, his friends at the National Museum of Mexican Art will always remember his laughter, humor, and contagious energy. Mendoza’s artistic contributions to the Latino community in and outside of Chicago will always invoke the importance of celebrating culture through art.
