The Puerto Rican Arts Alliance’s Celebrates Latinos in Music

 Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Local NewsThe Latinos in Music Film Program is presented by the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance (PRAA) featuring documentary-films highlighting the contributions of musical composers from Mexico and Puerto Rico. The outdoor film program opened in June celebrating Mexican female composers and now, PRAA celebrates the life and work of the Puerto Rican composer, Tite Curet Alonso. On Saturday July 28 at the Humboldt Park Boat House PRAA will present the musical-documentary Sonó Sonó Tite Curet posthumously honoring, the Afro-Puerto Rican composer Tite Curet Alonso. Tite as everybody knew him was an important figure responsible for a great deal of musical compositions sung by interpreters from around the world including soundtracks of films like The Godfather II and several Almodovar’s films.
