The Puerto Rican Independence Day festivities celebrate the rich culture of Chicago’s Puerto Rican community with lively music, entertainment, and authentic cuisine in the heart of Humboldt Park, said Mayor Rahm Emanuel. The festivities are one of the largest Latino events in the Midwest and they showcase the important economic, civic, and cultural contributions of the Puerto Rican community which continues to play a vital role in making Chicago a world class city.
