While pollsters talk about and pundits write about what’s on women’s minds, Chicago women are gathering to speak for themselves. On October 18th, Chicago Women Take Action (CWTA) is bringing together more than 15 diverse women’s organizations, informal networks and individuals to collectively forge a Chicago Women’s Agenda – a guide to civic and electoral action.

To ensure both an informed and wide-ranging discussion, CWTA has created a website through which individuals and organizations can both register and submit ‘planks’ for the agenda. The ideas submitted will be put to group refinement, discussion and votes at the Assembly on the 18th, with the goal being to forge an agenda that will serve as a framework for potential joint action among the varied groups as well as serving as a guide for women when making decisions in upcoming elections.

The assembly will take place from 9:00am to 2:00pm at the Cornerstone Center, at 1111 N. Wells Street in Chicago. Planks for discussion will be proposed and preselected through an online poll at the CWTA website, ChicagoWomenTakeAction.com. Women can also register for free tickets to the event on the site, as well as donate toward the cost of the event.
