On Saturday, October 3, Pilsen Neighbors Community Council and the Pilsen Education Task Force welcomed over 200 hundred parents and youth at the 9th Annual Pilsen Education Summit, which offered a variety of free educational workshops to parents and youth in the community, at Benito Juarez Community Academy. This year the summit focused on STEAM: Science, Technology, Art, and Mathematics and the theme was on “Skills for the 21st Century.” The workshop topics discussed programs and resources, parent involvement and civic engagement, and school connections. The Pilsen Education Summit is organized by Pilsen Neighbors Community Council (PNCC) and the Pilsen Education Task Force (PETF). The mission of the summit is to create a path of education from birth through college for members of the community, as well as provide access to information on the educational resources available in their communities.
