Advocate Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn and Park Ridge, suburbs just outside Chicago, held the hospital’s annual costume contest for babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Babies in this unit are the hospital’s smallest and most fragile patients. Parents of the pint-sized patients were invited to dress their infant in a costume as simple or elaborate as they like. All costumed babies are featured on Advocate Children’s Hospital Facebook page where people can vote for their favorite costume and help the families win various prizes. Advocate Children’s Hospital holds this annual event to bring a bit of normalcy and fun to the parents of NICU patients.
