Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - BusinessOn Tuesday evening in downtown, Refuse Fascism Chicago, Freedom First International, and other community activists protested President Trump’s 2019 State of the Union address amid his announcement to declare a national emergency or begin a new government shutdown. A few hours prior to the Union address, activists marched to Trump Tower, saying “To the world’s migrants and all of humanity, we refuse to accept a fascist America! The Trump/Pence regime must go!” The activists mobilizing for the protest on Tuesday argue, “Fascism can come to power through the ballot box but fascism cannot be voted out — the people must drive it from power.” RefuseFascism.org is a movement of people coming from diverse perspectives, united in their recognition that the “Trump/Pence Regime poses a catastrophic danger to humanity and the planet, and that it is their responsibility to drive them from power through massive nonviolent political protest.”
