Cook County Health is proud to announce that John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a high-performing organization in treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, heart attack, heart failure, and kidney failure. This is the highest distinction a hospital can earn for U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings. High-performing organizations are distinguished as performing significantly better than the national average. U.S. News evaluated more than 5,000 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions. Hospitals awarded a “Best” designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, level of nursing care and patient experience. “Recognition by US News & World Report underscores Cook County Health’s commitment to ensuring optimal health outcomes in a medically complex population and to advancing health equity by making high-quality care accessible to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay,” said Dr. Erik Mikaitis, Interim CEO, CCH. “These honors are a testament to the incredible work of the Cook County Health team who go above and beyond every day to provide exceptional care.” The annual Procedures & Conditions ratings are designed to assist patients and their health care providers in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures.
