As summer break begins, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is rolling out a slate of academic and enrichment programs to ensure students continue learning, thriving, and preparing for the 2025–26 school year. Through partnerships with community organizations and educational institutions citywide, CPS is once again supporting high-quality summer opportunities that reflect the District’s deep commitment to equity, excellence, and the goals outlined in its Five-Year Strategic Plan, Success 2029: Together We Rise. From Monday, June 23 through Friday, August 1, students in all grades will have access to academic enrichment, social-emotional support, and opportunities for exploration at hundreds of sites citywide. Key CPS summer programs include:
Summer Start: A bridge program to help incoming kindergarteners and first graders thrive.
JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge: A weeklong experience building leadership, teamwork, and resilience.
High School Connection: A transition program for rising ninth graders to build confidence and readiness.
Beginning Tuesday, July 1, the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry will host the RISE Program for students in grades 9 through 11. The program aims to build interest in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) through hands-on learning, civic engagement, and career exploration.
