Hundreds of swimmers will dive into the waters of Lake Michigan on Saturday, August 9, for the 32nd annual Swim Across America – Chicago Open Water Swim, one of the most inspiring events of the year that raises critical funds for cancer research and patient care for Swim Across America’s local beneficiary RUSH University Cancer Center. The swim takes place at Ohio Street Beach (400 N. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, Illinois) and features 1/2-mile, 1-mile, and 2-mile open water courses, as well as a SAA My Way virtual option. New this year is the addition of the Swim Across America – Chicago “Miracle Mile” competitive race, a one-mile timed event for individuals and teams eager to test their speed against the iconic Chicago skyline. The Miracle Mile race will be the leading heat of the morning and will be followed by the non-competitive distances at Swim Across America – Chicago. Registration for all swim distances and for water and land volunteers is open at swimacrossamerica.org/chicago. Swim Across America – Chicago has been making waves to fight cancer along the Chicago shore of Lake Michigan since 1994. Since partnering with RUSH, Swim Across America – Chicago has donated more than $2 million to support early-stage cancer research and clinical trials. The event draws close to 300 swimmers, volunteers, supporters and Olympic swimmers.
