There will be no Chinese invasion of Taiwan. There will be no Russian invasion of Poland, Finland or Sweden. One of the unintended consequences of U.S. President Donald Trump’s invasion of Venezuela and seizing of its President/dictator Nicolas Maduro is that smaller nations will do what North Korea has done; make and deploy nuclear weapons. For almost 100 years, the United States and its allies in NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and America’s allies in East Asia helped manage the stability and free trade network for the whole world that kept world safe. This is all coming unwound as Trump seems to be threatening far, far more military imperialist operations throughout the Americas such as not only attacking Venezuela but also attacking Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Cuba, and even seizing Greenland from Denmark. If the United States tries to take Greenland from Denmark, it is without question the end of NATO.
With NATO, it means that smaller nations will have to develop nuclear weapons to prevent larger nations like China and Russia from attacking them. But nuclear weapons are very difficult devices to develop. Yes, it is possible to develop crude atomic bombs that can be used in case of threats. However, the great divide between atomic bombs and nuclear weapons is that atomic bombs cannot be as effective or delivered against an enemy outside the territory of those countries with the bomb itself. Only countries with the scientists and companies capable of developing atomic bombs and the missiles or aircraft capable to delivering the atomic bomb can only be done by those smaller nations with the capacity and technology to develop and deploy nuclear weapons. Smaller nations that do not have the capacity to develop weapons will probably fall prey to the larger nations like China and Russia which want to seize smaller countries for their empires. It seems that the United States is joining the imperialist league, and it means that those countries that are allies of the United States will no longer be able to trust or rely on the United States.
For decades, the United States was one of the key countries to keeping the world more stable. It now begins to look like that Trump is ready to dump the international world order, NATO and America’s allies for an imperialist plan to seize countries at will without regard for smaller countries rights or regards to their sovereignty. And the only way smaller nations will be able to fight back will be with nuclear weapons. If China attacks Taiwan, Taiwan will most likely use nuclear weapons against China. If Russia invades Poland, Finland or Sweden it is most likely that these nations will use nuclear weapons against Russia. Is it possible that countries like Mexico might use nuclear weapons against the United States if America attacks and invades Mexico? I can only think of one country in the Americas that may be able to develop nuclear weapons in the Americas, and that is Mexico (I am pretty sure Canada already has nuclear weapons). If things keep going the way they are, smaller nations will have no choice but to develop nuclear weapons to protect themselves. The world is becoming a far, far more dangerous place.
How Small Nations Will Learn to Love the Bomb
