Lawndale Christian Development Corporation (LCDC) is honored to announce that it has been named an awardee of the Lohengrin Foundation’s Thriving Youth, Stronger Communities initiative, a youth and community center capital investment effort awarding $15 million to two transformational projects serving North Lawndale and Little Village. The announcement was made on February 25, 2026, at the Thriving Youth, Stronger Communities Finalist Reception held at Impact House in downtown Chicago. Out of 73 submissions citywide, two organizations were selected: Lawndale Christian Development Corporation and Erie Neighborhood House. LCDC will utilize the award to advance the One Lawndale Recreational Center, a $38 million indoor sports and community complex at Cermak and Springfield. The center will feature two indoor turf fields, six full-size basketball courts, a boxing and fitness room, wrestling studio, multipurpose rooms, concessions, and dedicated program space designed to provide year-round access to safe, high-quality recreation.
