Award-winning Author Speaks to Morton High School Students

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Education

Award-winning debut author Patrick Flores-Scott shared stories, insights and advice with hundreds of J. Sterling Morton High School students on March 26 and 27 during a variety of presentations and as a participant in the Freshman Center lunchtime teacher/student One-to-One Book Club. Drawing on the personalities and experiences of his students, colleagues, and family members, Flores-Scott was determined to write a book that his students would relate to and want to read. Using traditional prose and raw poetry, Jumped In is a story about stereotypes, unlikely friendships, painful losses, and the power of words to heal, connect and inspire. Each student received an autographed copy of Mr. Flores-Scott’s book, Jumped In.
