Exelon Employee Volunteers and Rowe-Clark Math and Science Academy Students Give Humboldt Park a Spring Cleaning

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Local News Approximately 20 Exelon employee volunteers and 20 students from Rowe-Clark Math and Science Academy joined Friends of the Parks on Saturday, April 16, to give Humboldt Park a spring cleaning as part of a company wide observance of National Volunteer Week and Earth Day. Volunteers and students spread mulch, planted shrubs and trees, and picked up trash and litter throughout the park. This was the first year students from Rowe-Clark Academy, located in Chicago’s West Humboldt Park neighborhood, participated in the annual service project. In 2010, more than 2,000 Exelon employee volunteers gave almost 66,000 hours of their time to community nonprofit organizations. This is equivalent to 1,650 workweeks or nearly 32 years of full-time service.
