Illinois Holocaust Museum Honors Three Leaders

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice joined more than 2,000 of Chicago’s foremost civic, business and charitable leaders, community members, local Holocaust survivors and Museum patrons at the Hyatt Regency Chicago on last Tuesday evening to celebrate the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center and to honor three extraordinary individuals at its 2011 Humanitarian Awards Dinner. Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and local business leaders Larry Richman, president and CEO of The Private Bank, and Michael Sacks, CEO of Grosvenor Capital Management, LP, were each honored with the Museum’s 2011 Humanitarian Awards for their many accomplishments and steadfast commitment to fighting hatred, injustice, and intolerance in the world. “I’m honored to receive the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center’s Humanitarian Award,” said Mayor Daley. “I am proud to support the Museum and am confident it will continue to successfully execute its critical mission for generations to come.” Since 1981, Mayor Daley has observed Holocaust Remembrance Day with Chicago Public School students. Soon after the Illinois Holocaust Museum opened in 2009, Mayor Daley established a new tradition of holding his Holocaust Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Museum.
