Berwyn Police and DEA Mobile Enforcement Team (MET) Seizes Drug Operation

The Berwyn Police Department was proud to be selected to work with the DEA’s Mobil Enforcement Team (MET) team for a three month, 11-week drug enforcement and suppression campaign beginning in February of 2011. The combined initiative conducted a total of 55 enforcement operations culminating in the arrest of 16 drug related offenders, three of which claimed membership in organized and dangerous street gangs. The joint operation resulted in the seizure of nearly 120 pounds of marijuana, 247 marijuana plants, more than a pound of hashish, nearly two ounces of white heroin, one and a half pounds of cocaine, more than one ounce of crack cocaine, psilocybin, Ecstasy, Hydromorphone (Dilaudid), and more than 160 thousand dollars in US currency and other assets. The deployment is also credited with disrupting and dismantling five local Drug Trafficking Organizations and seizing three clandestine residential marijuana growing operations. This very successful operation was a credit to the Berwyn Police Departments commitment to working with other municipal and federal agencies in our aggressive fight against those involved with illegal drug trafficking who compromise the safety of our community.
