Chicago Student Receives Dominican University’s Golden Star Award

Rene Howard-Paez, a resident of Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood, was recently honored with Dominican University’s Golden Star Award. This award is given annually to students who have supported the university mission and values through their co-curricular involvement and leadership at the university. Howard-Paez serves as a resident assistant and works in the university’s Siena Center. He brought the resident students on his floor to the Oak Park River Forest food pantry, where they volunteered their time. He also participated in a service trip and retreat to the Dominican Mound in Sinsinawa, WI.
