The City of Berwyn is offering the Dollars for Scholars Educational Scholarships in the amount of $500 to four deserving students, who will be entering an accredited college, university, vocational of technical school as a full time student in the Fall of 2011. Candidates are evaluated on scholastics, community involvement, financial need, teacher appraisal and their commitment to education. Applications for the Dollars For Scholars program will be available at the Berwyn City Clerk’s office (1st floor, 6700 West 26th St., Berwyn, IL.) Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am to 5pm and Tuesdays from 9am to 8pm or on line at the City of Berwyn Web Site @ www.Berwyn-IL.Gov, on the City Clerks page or http://berwyn-il.gov/pdf/Clerk/COB Dollars4scholars.pdf. The deadline to turn in applications is Thursday June 30, 2011. The awarding of the scholarships will take place in July or early August, date to be announced. The scholarship Board urges all eligible candidates to apply as soon as possible. Judging is based on a point system so that each candidate is considered fairly.
