Latino Art Beat Art Competition Still Accepting Entries

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - EducationLatino Art Beat is making its last call for entries for the 14th consecutive Hispanic Heritage art competition for 11th and 12th graders. Don Rossi Nuccio, president and founder of Latino Art Beat said students in Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C. will participate in the 2011 national Latino Art Beat art competition. Students entering in the “Drawing and Painting” category will create an original colorful artwork interpreting the competitions theme of “What Hispanic Heritage and Culture Means to Me?”

Additional competition categories include “Film and Animation,” whereby students may submit a DVD or VHS video of five minutes or less about “My Life” or a short narrative. Latino Art Beat will accept late entries on Tuesday, May 17. Entries must be hand-delivered to Columbia College Stage Two Center, 2nd fl, between noon and 3pm. A national winner will be selected from all the regional winners during the judging hosted by Columbia College Chicago on May 18 and 19.
