Parents United for Healthy Schools Raises Awareness

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - EducationHealthy Schools Campaign announced the Parents United for Healthy Schools Fifth Annual Parent Summit. Parents United for Healthy Schools is a Chicago-based grassroots coalition that brings together parents, educators, and community leaders to promote wellness through the schools. The parent-led group advocates for healthier school food and physical activity in schools. At the summit, parent leaders shared resources, highlighted victories, and discussed strategies to make healthy eating and physical activity an integral part of the school experience for all children in Chicago. The group also honored outstanding wellness teams and hear from extraordinary students who are proactively promoting health and wellness initiatives among their peers. The summit took place at Arturo Velasquez West Side Technical Institute, 2800 S. Western Ave. Chicago Board of Education President Jesse Ruiz was also in attendance.
