El Valor Honors Leaders at Don Quixote Dinner

El Valor held its 2011 Don Quixote Dinner on Tuesday, May 24th, at the Chicago Hilton and Towers. Hundreds of guests participated in this event, which celebrates El Valor’s continued service to the community and where key individuals who support El Valor’s mission and who exemplify dedication and service to the Hispanic community are recognized. This year El Valor honored Martin Cabrera, Jr., president of Cabrera Capital Markets, LLC and Juan Rangel, chief executive officer of the United Neighborhood Organization (UNO).

MARTIN CABRERA, JR.
, President of Cabrera Capital Markets, LLC received the Corporate Visionary Award. Mr. Cabrera is a recognized leader in the world of finance, developing his company into the leading Hispanic investment and institutional brokerage firm in the nation. His work is international in nature, but he has never forgotten his roots. He attributes his success to his faith and his family. He believes in the importance of giving back and helping others achieve success. Mr. Cabrera exemplifies El Valor’s core values of respect, inclusion and leadership. He is a corporate leader with a social conscience who is an exemplar for other corporate leaders.

JUAN R. RANGEL, Chief Executive Officer of the United Neighborhood Organization (UNO) received the Guadalupe Reyes Founder’s Award. Mr. Rangel is an inspirational leader, a visionary, who strives for excellence and challenges others to achieve it. Through his leadership, the UNO schools create an environment of high expectations and show that all children can achieve high standards. UNO’s Metropolitan Leadership Institute is opening doors to leadership for Latinos in the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois. Mr. Rangel exemplifies the spirit of Mrs. Reyes by respecting and challenging everyone to develop their full potential.
