Hernandez Announces General Assembly Scholarship Recipients

State Rep. Lisa Hernandez (D-Cicero) held a ceremony this week to announce the recipients of the 2011 General Assembly scholarship program that is awarded to students in her legislative district. Hernandez awarded eight one-year tuition scholarships to help students from the area attend a state university. The scholarship is intended for full-time students who reside in the 24th District and are enrolled in a four-year accredited public university in the state of Illinois. The 2011 recipients are: Alexandra Almaraz, Stephanie Almazan, Christian Carrera, Angelinina Escamilla, Alexander Grozdic, Eduardo Guadarrama, Gamaliel Hernandez, and Ana Ruvalcaba.

“This Scholarship is an important tool to help students receive access to high-quality education regardless of their family’s income,” Hernandez said. “One of my top priorities has been to provide our youth with the necessary tools to achieve their educational and professional dreams.
