Hispanic Caucus Elects Solis

Alderman Danny Solis was elected chairman of the Chicago City Council’s Hispanic Caucus Monday. In a vote among Hispanic aldermen following Monday’s council meeting Ald. Solis was chosen by his fellow Hispanic city council members to replace 22nd Ward Ald. Ricky Munoz for the chairmanship. Ald. Solis’ experience enables him to promote strong representation of the Hispanic community in the new city council and with the new mayor. Solis will also play a major role in the upcoming ward remap based on 2010 U.S. Census data. “I am looking forward to taking a leadership position with some of my closest colleagues in the Hispanic caucus. I am honored to take on this role and look forward to the work we have to do together,” Solis said. Solis is a 15-year veteran of city council and joins new African-American caucus chairman Alderman Howard Brookins of the 21st Ward.
