Chicago Career Tech Now Accepting Applications

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - EducationWhile Chicago’s unemployment numbers increased once again last month, thousands of job openings continue to go unfilled. The reason for the disparity is a “skills mismatch” –employers in Chicago are looking for skills that those currently seeking employment simply do not have. In response to this need, Chicago Career Tech (CCT) offers emerging and middle-income Chicago residents the training and hands-on learning needed to obtain jobs in high-demand technology careers.

Chicago Career Tech is now accepting applications for the fourth session of its four-to-six month, six-day-a-week job retraining program. Applications are available online at www.chicagocareertech.com through Friday, Sept. 2. To be eligible for the program, potential participants must meet the following minimum requirements: city of Chicago resident, minimum of a high school diploma or earned GED, unemployed, after Jan. 1, 2008, with previous annual income of $25,000 to $80,000, eligible to collect or have exhausted unemployment insurance benefits in Illinois, or not currently enrolled in another job training program.
