Hernandez Congratulates Cicero Contest Winner

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Local NewsState Rep. Lisa Hernandez (D-Cicero) on Tuesday, July 12 presented Evelyn Ochoa with a certificate to congratulate her for being one of the winners of the 2010-2011 Illinois Work Zone Calendar Contest. In the past six years, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) along with the Illinois State Board of Education, the American Traffic Safety Service Foundation and the Illinois Chapter of the American Traffic Safety Services Association coordinate a statewide calendar contest for elementary students to become aware of work zones and to educate their parents or caregivers on the importance of safe driving in work zones. “I am proud to know we have such talented students in our schools. It is an honor to have Evelyn Ochoa as one of the eleven winners out of over 4,400 participants,” Hernandez said. “The Work Zone Calendar Contest is a great way to introduce children to safe driving at an early age, provide awareness of work zone hazards and foster safe driving behavior in the future.” For more information, call Hernandez’s full-time constituent services office at (708) 222-5240.
