The Berwyn Development Corporation (BDC) was pleased to participate in the Grand Opening celebration for Tootsies Cupcakes, 6834 West Windsor Ave, in Berwyn. The ribbon cutting celebrated the recent arrival of the Depot District’s new cupcake bakery. Tootsies Cupcakes bakes gourmet cupcakes fresh from Monday through Saturday. Recently, Tootsies competed in the Great Oak Park Cup Quake of 2011 contest and brought home high honors in the specialty cupcake category with a second place ribbon for their Toffee Crunch Cupcake. On the philanthropic side, Tootsies is proud to donate its unsold cupcakes to the Chicago Food Pantry.

Rita Olguin, owner and operator of Tootsies Cupcakes, stated, “It’s been a pleasure to be in Berwyn. Everyone has been welcoming and gracious. While I have lived in this area for many years, I still enjoy meeting the new, friendly faces that come into the store.” Olguin has been a life-long student of baking, starting with lessons from her mother, graduating to Chez Madelaine School and continuing today. She ran a home-based catering business, creating wedding and specialty cakes for select clientele for over 20 years, before opening the doors to Berwyn’s first cupcakery.
