Black Ensemble Theatre and City Colleges of Chicago Present ‘Somebody Say Amen’

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Local NewsIn 2010, Jackie Taylor, founder and executive director of Chicago’s Black Ensemble Theater, announced a partnership with the City Colleges of Chicago to co-produce a series of shows at Kennedy-King College. This fall, the partnership will culminate with the reprise of one of Black Ensemble Theater’s biggest hits “Somebody Say Amen” which first premiered in 2005. The production will be remounted at Kennedy-King College Theatre, located at 740 W. 63rd Street, for three weekends only, beginning September 23. Through this partnership, Black Ensemble Theater’s successfully developed new audiences from the Southside in preparation for the occupation of its new home, the Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center, located at 4450 N. Clark Street. This exciting, historical facility is scheduled to open on November 18.
