Allstate and Mayor Emanuel Dedicate New Soccer Field at Humboldt Park

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Local NewsAllstate Insurance Company was joined Saturday morning by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, local officials and several dozen soccer-playing kids to dedicate Allstate Field, a new, state-of-the-art soccer field at Humboldt Park located in the city’s northwest side. The 207-acre Allstate Field is made of FieldTurf premium artificial turf, which features all-weather surfacing that, provides usability for at least nine months a year. The new field also includes a new lighting system, which will increase playing and programming time at the park.

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Local NewsThe insurer helped build the new regulation-size soccer field as part of the “Take the Field” initiative, which joined public and private resources to build 10 public athletic fields throughout the City of Chicago. Allstate and the Pritzker Traubert Foundation provided a combined $1 million in funding for the field. Also in attendance at the dedication were Interim Chicago Park District Superintendent Mike Kelly, Chicago Park District Board President Bryan Traubert, and members of the Urban Initiative’s youth soccer program.
