Pilsen Community Unveil New Mural

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Local NewsTwo murals created by youth in the Pilsen community this past summer were revealed Thursday, Oct. 13 during a press conference hosted by Alderman Daniel Solis and Raul Raymundo, CEO of The Resurrection Project. The Project was made possible by The Resurrection Project through the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program’s Digital Youth Summer Jobs Imitative. , LISC, and After School Matters.

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Local NewsThe local partners who also played a key role in implementing the project were Yollocalli Arts Reach, an extension of the National Museum of Mexican Art, Pros Art Studios and National Able. These mural projects engaged more than 40 youth this summer with the purpose of promoting peace and tolerance through creativity, and to provide community youth a creative platform for them to express their feelings and ideas on combating street violence in their neighborhoods. The mural can be viewed on 18th St and Paulina.
