Dolores Huerta to visit Truman College

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - EducationDolores Huerta, who co-founded the United Farm Workers Union with Caesar Chavez, will visit Truman College for a screening of the movie A Better Life from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 in the lobby of the new McKeon Administrative Building, just south of the college’s main building at 1145 W. Wilson Ave.

A Better Life is about an illegal immigrant gardener in East Los Angeles who struggles to keep his son away from gangs and immigration agents while giving the boy the opportunities he never had. Dolores Huerta is president of the Dolores Huerta Foundation, through which she works to create a network of organized communities working for social change. All proceeds from Thursday’s showing will benefit the foundation, www.doloreshuerta.org.
