Students Run to Combat Childhood Obesity

awndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - HealthOver 2,500 Chicago Public School students participated in the Healthy Halloween Run to combat childhood obesity on Saturday, Oct. 29 in Washington Park. Students and teachers showed off what they were doing, with the support of Chicago Run, to combat the rising rate of childhood obesity and find positive ways to express their energy during the Halloween weekend. In addition, Walgreens offered free health screenings for the parents and teachers with Chicago Run as part of a collaborative effort in promoting healthy and active lifestyles for Chicago families.

The Fun Run and the year-round running activities are organized by Chicago Run, a non-profit organization that works to promote the health and wellness of Chicago Children through innovative, engaging and sustainable youth running programs like Chicago Runners and Chicago Running Mates. The Chicago Run Fall Fun Run is supported by Bank of America, Pritzker-Traubert Family Foundation, Walgreens, Nike, Chicago Public Schools, Accelerated Rehab, Clif Bar, Trader Joe’s, and the Chicago Park District.
