UNO Hosts Annual Awards Banquet

 Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Local NewsThe United Neighborhood Organization (UNO) welcomed an array of prestigious guests to their annual UNO Awards Banquet on November 14, at the Fairmont Chicago. Among the guests were Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, Chicago Public Schools Chief Jean-Claude Brizard, and Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who was the keynote speaker for the evening. During Emanuel’s speech he referred to UNO Charter Schools as the trailblazers for others to follow suit. “UNO Charter Schools have the highest graduation rates, they are the only organization to have 100 percent participation from parents,” said Emanuel to crowd of cheers. “This is an organization that knows how to have everyone, on every level involved in their child’s education.” Throughout the evening UNO Chief Executive Officer Juan Rangel commended teachers, students, and parents for their hard work throughout the school year. The evening ended with the Commitment to Teaching Awards.
