After School Matters Now Accepting Applications

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - EducationAfter School Matters is now accepting applications for its spring cycle of after-school programs. The programs, which focus on the arts, communications, science, sports, and technology, will be offered at 45 Chicago Public School high schools and more than 50 community organizations across the city. “Since our inception as a summer arts program, the opportunities we offer to Chicago teens have grown exponentially,” said Ray Orozco, CEO of After School Matters. “Now in our 20th year, we look forward to continuing to add unique program opportunities and expand our reach across the city to offer more out-of-school-time programming to those Chicago teens who need it most.”

The out-of-school-time programs are free and open to all Chicago teen residents who are at least 14-years of age and currently enrolled in a Chicago Public Schools high school. In order to participate, teens must first apply online for the programs that interest them and then interview or audition with the program’s instructors.
