State Representative Elizabeth “Lisa” Hernandez (D-Cicero) served as a guest judge this past Friday at the South Berwyn School District 100 Spelling Bee hosted at Heritage Middle School. “As someone who has dedicated their life to education, it is truly an honor to be asked to be a judge of such a rewarding event,” Hernandez said. “Any extra-curricular school events such as this one provide incentives for children to develop skills which are necessary to succeed academically and develop a strong vocabulary.”

Fifth through eighth grade students from all elementary and middle schools within the 100th district were able to participate in the spelling bee. Several rounds of spelling determined champions from each grade level and ultimately one final district champion was announced. For more information on the spelling bee or to participate in her next Education Advisory Committee please contact Rep. Hernandez’s full-time constituent service office at (708) 222-5240.
