On Friday, March 9, at noon, Ruben Salazar Bilingual Center will be celebrating the life of their namesake, Ruben Salazar, who would have been 84 years old this past Saturday, March 3. Ruben Salazar, the famed Latino journalist, continues to inspire young minds to be engaged in their communities, speak up for social issues that need a voice, and be effective writers throughout their lives.

Friday’s celebration will feature an exposé of students’ writings, along with previous Salazar students who have exemplified the excellence Ruben Salazar the journalist lived throughout his career. Ruben Salazar Bilingual Center is a Pre-K through 8th grade Chicago elementary school that focuses on the individual student’s needs to meet their top potential.
