Children’s Center of Cicero-Berwyn

The Children’s Center of Cicero-Berwyn is a private not-for-profit corporation which provides child care services. The agency is designated a 501(c)(3) organization by the Internal Revenue Service. It is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors and staffed by qualified persons with education, training and experience in early childhood. All day care programs are licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. The programs serve children and adults residing in the Cicero and Berwyn area.

The Children’s Center of Cicero-Berwyn provides educational day care and child development programs. These efforts are funded through the support of individuals and community organizations. The Children’s Center of Cicero-Berwyn’s Early Head Start and Head Start programs are funded through the Community Economic Development Association (C.E.D.A.).

The Early /Head Start program is a free federal program that promotes the school readiness of children ages birth to five from low-income families by enhancing their cognitive, social, and emotional development. Head Start programs provide comprehensive services to enrolled children and their families, which include health, nutrition, social, and other services determined to be necessary by family needs assessments, in addition to education and cognitive development services. Head Start services are designed to be responsive to each child and family’s ethnic and cultural heritage.

Applications days for Early Head Start and Head Start will be held on Friday, March 23, 2012 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and on Friday, March 30, 2012, 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at 2831 S. 49th Avenue, Cicero. Applicants should bring the child’s proof of age, 3 proofs of address and proof of Income (two consecutive check stubs or 2011 Income Tax return).
