Quinn, Greater Chicago Food Depository Launch ‘No Kid Hungry Campaign’

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - BusinessIllinois Governor Pat Quinn and a diverse group of corporate, nonprofit and government leaders joined Share Our Strength Founder and CEO Bill Shore and Greater Chicago Food Depository Executive Director Kate Maehr to release the Illinois Commission to End Hunger report and launch the Illinois No Kid Hungry campaign at Parker Elementary Community Academy in Chicago on Wed., March 14.

More than 745,000 Illinois children (23 percent) are at risk of hunger and are more likely to suffer from poor health, higher school absentee rates, more suspensions and/or behavioral issues, and lower academic performance. The Illinois No Kid Hungry campaign will be the first recommendation implemented from the Commission to End Hunger report to begin to address this problem of childhood hunger.
