Speaker Madigan at UNO Soccer Academy

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - EducationIllinois House Speaker Michael J. Madigan toured the UNO Soccer Academy on Saturday, saying the $26 million elementary school on Chicago’s Southwest Side presents students “with a wonderful opportunity” to receive a good education. “Let me congratulate you all,” Madigan told the crowd of 450 parents and students. “For over 200 years people have been coming to this nation because of opportunity. Everyone has to do a part. So take advantage,” Madigan said. Rangel, who provided Madigan with a tour of the campus, said the facility has a 98 percent attendance rate, among the strongest in the Chicago Public Schools. The Soccer Academy opened in the fall of 2011 and enrolls about 575 students.
