Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Local NewsAfter weeks of rallies and protests around the city culminating at the two day NATO summit May 20-21, Chicago residents can now rest assured that their discernment over governmental policies was heard. Groups of The People’s Summit, National Nurses (NNU) United, Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW), The Mental Health Movement, and Occupy Chicago, among many others, merged onto city streets to give a message to NATO leaders. “Instead of funding death and destruction on the other side of the globe, our tax dollars should support services in our community. Our actions will rise to the international stage local battles around housing, education, and healthcare,” said Occupy Chicago participant Jackie Spreadbury. Courtesy of our friends over at Occupy Chicago, we have shared a couple of photos taken throughout the summit.
