Digital Youth Network Video Contest in Pilsen

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - EducationIf you see any 6th-8th grade students filming in the Pilsen area, chances are they are participating in the Digital Youth Network Online Video Production contest. Beginning back in May, middle school students were given the opportunity to enroll in an online video production and broadcast journalism class. Through the Digital Youth Network’s online video curriculum, students learned to create news stories that are meant to impact their communities and neighborhood.

Students are welcome to stop by the YOUmedia space at the Lozano Chicago Public Library, 1805 S. Loomis St., to learn how to access the online curriculum required for the contest. With a library card, students are also welcome to use YOUmedia equipment, including laptops and cameras, to create their video entries for the contest. Students are highly encouraged to participate in the YOUmedia workshops where they can learn skills to improve their video entries. The deadline to submit your video entry is July 13th.
