Loretto Hospital Raises Bar of Excellence

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - HealthLoretto Hospital is pleased to announce that Susan Kranzer, former University of Chicago Acting CNO, has joined its staff as the Vice President of Nursing Services. Kranzer is responsible for all nursing operational functions including staffing, bed placement and patient flow activities for Loretto. Kranzer is part of the hospital’s continued effort to increase its standards and level of patient care.

Kranzer brings more than 23 years of nursing expertise, including experience as a staff and charge nurse and clinical director from the University of Chicago Medical Center. Her most recent position was as Acting Chief Nursing Officer, a role in which she monitored a staff of 1,800 nurses in various disciplines, including: respiratory therapy, physical and occupational therapy, nutritional services and social services.

As the new VP of nursing services at Loretto, Kranzer plans to make the “shared governance model” a top priority. The new model, which is being used at the University of Chicago, is an interdisciplinary approach that promotes employee engagement across service lines and offers individuals the tools and resources to perform at the highest possible level of education while improving patient outcomes.
