Saint Anthony Hospital Summer Fest Brings Communities Together

Saint Anthony Hospital hosted its sixth annual Summer Fest Car and Bike Show on Saturday, June 9 at its facility at 2875 W. 19th St. This annual event was created six years ago at the request of members of the Little Village and North Lawndale communities. Families from neighboring communities participated in workshops, health screenings, live entertainment and free raffle prizes.

Hundreds of children received complete back-to-school physicals provided by Saint Anthony Hospital, dental exams by Complete Dental or vision screenings by PediaVision. VSP® Vision Care provided vouchers to these children.

Saint Anthony Hospital Parish Nurses and The Center for Diabetes were on hand to provide free blood pressure and glucose checks. Saint Anthony Hospital Center for Diabetes staff conducted cooking demonstrations in order to promote healthy eating habits. The Saint Anthony Hospital Family Maternity Center provided educational materials about pregnancy, registration for the hospital’s prenatal classes and tours of the Maternity Center. Children participated in a variety of activities including face painting, create your own tie-dye t-shirt, carnival games, live pony rides, inflatable slide, and a basketball exhibit. The event also featured live musical performances by Irma Ruiz teacher band Suvecitos.

For more than one hundred years, Saint Anthony Hospital has been committed to serving its community consisting of North Lawndale, Pilsen, Little Village, Back of the Yards, Brighton Park, McKinley Park, Cicero and Berwyn.
