Chicago Public Library Hosts Second Classical Music Concert

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Local NewsIn partnership with the 2012 Latino Music Festival the Chicago Public Library will host a special classical music concert featuring world-renowned pianist Juan Pablo Horcasitas. Horcasitas will present a varied program of works by Federico Mompou, Luis G. Jorda, Manuel M. Ponce, Heitor Villa-lobos, Isaac Albeniz, Pablo Moncayo, Astor Piazzolla and Alberto Ginastera. The free program takes place on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 2p.m. in the Cindy Pritzker Auditorium at the Harold Washington Library Center, 400 S. State St.

Juan Pablo Horcasitas made his recital debut at the age of nine in Sala Chopin Recital Hall in Mexico City. He was the first-prize winner of the 1997 “Manuel de Falla” Piano Competition at the Escuela Nacional de Música of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. This is the second of three scheduled classical music events at the Chicago Public Library as part of the 2012 Latino Music Festival.
