City Colleges’ Men’s Soccer Teams Face Off for the First Time This Season

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - EducationA freshman trio will lead Daley College men’s soccer team as it faces off the first time this season against a fellow City Colleges team from Truman College this Thursday, Sept. 27 at 4pm afternoon at the Kennedy-King College field, 6301 S. Halsted. The Daley College Bulldogs are 3-2 on the season, and are aiming for a shot at the National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) Division I playoffs. This is the second year at the helm for Coach James Callan, who played college soccer at St. Xavier University and was a member of the recruiting committee for Sporting Cristal Professional Soccer Team in his native Peru.

The stars for the Bulldogs this season are freshman captain and stopper Enrique Alvarez, midfielder Juan Villalobos and forward Lorenzo Pizana. Before coming to CCC, business major Enrique Alvarez was a soccer and academic standout at Thomas Kelly High School where he graduated with a 4.0 GPA. Freshman and child development major, Juan Villalobos, is a recipient of the Harold Washington Service Award for recognized service to his college community. A Little Village resident, Lorenzo Pizana graduated from Farragut Career Academy with a 3.0 GPA and was a recipient of both All City and All State awards in 2010.
