In the ongoing fight to end homelessness, Streetwise has joined forces with Neighbor Capital, LLC (a social-impact business focused on developing collaborative solutions to create sustainable communities) to roll out Chicago’s first “Neighbor Carts.” This pilot program provides specialized training to Streetwise participants so they can work as entrepreneurs selling easily accessible fresh and ready-to buy produce.
The goal in 2012 is to have a total of ten Neighbor Carts operating in Chicago, engaging 20 to 30 vendors in job training and social service support, by Streetwise, while providing a healthy food option to the public.
