Deadline Approaches for LPF ‘Immigrant Ambassadors’ Program

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - BusinessLatino Policy Forum is calling on community-based trainers to apply to its December 2012 English-language cohort of Immigrant Ambassadors (Promotores.) The Promotores program is designed to develop a cadre of community‐based trainers who have a strong understanding of immigration policy and its effects of immigrant communities. The three‐day workshop is a “train‐the‐trainer” program designed to increase participants’ knowledge of immigration policies and their impact on immigrant communities, foster the development of community organizing and strategic action skills, and encourage participants to share knowledge through future promotores‐led training sessions.

Specifically, the training has three goals:

    1. Increase knowledge of immigration policies and impact on the immigrant community
    2. Learn skills as it relates to building collective and strategic action
    3. Engage participants in opportunities to address immigration issues locally through trainings and coordinated actions

The application deadline is on November 16. For additional information, contact Isabel Anadon at ianadon@latinopolicyforum.org or at 312-376-1766.
