H&R Block Awards $1,000 in Scholarships

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - EducationNew Futuro held a free Road to College Workshop, sponsored by H&R Block, at Instituto Health Sciences Career Academy on Chicago’s south side. The half-day bilingual workshop was designed to help Latino students and their parents understand how to prepare, apply and pay for college. During the event H&R Block awarded Ricardo Acuña, a Sophomore at Instituto Health Sciences Career Academy and Mario Acosta-Warren, a Senior at Lincoln Park High School, each won a $500 scholarship.

In addition to the scholarship giveaway, students and parents who attended the workshop also walked away with a free New Futuro 10-step college plan designed to help students get into college.
