On February 8th, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and Cook County Commissioner Jeff Tobolski met with members of the LaGrange Business Association to discuss ways to strengthen the small business environment in the Western Suburbs and the greater LaGrange area in particular.

The Stroger Sales Tax rollback was front in center during the discussion, as business leaders thanked Preckwinkle and Tobolski for honoring their commitments to reduce the tax. “It has not made the budget process any easier,” said Tobolski, “but it was the right thing to do for our local businesses and for working families.”

The group also talked about the County’s recent passage of the local business preference ordinance, which allows for a more competitive bidding process for county contractors and also incentivizes businesses to buy in Cook County rather than in DuPage.
