Labor Day Weekend is Here!

You can visit one of Chicago’s zoos, watch a play, and learn how to arrange flowers. There is also the recycled art fair and the Children’s Museum Ready, Pet, Go! exhibit. If you don’t feel like going out of town, check any of these events out.

The Lorraine Hansberry drama about an African American family that lives in Chicago’s south side is now playing! Go check out their luck in their new neighborhood. The show is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes with one intermission.

Salsa at the Zoo

6-9pm
Learn various dance steps along with a salsa dance instructor. Then put your new skills to the test and dance to a live dance band at the zoo’s café rooftop. Food and other refreshments will be sold.

Roadside Flower Sale Workshop
Chicago Botanic Garden
Going on until August 30, 2013
9:30-11:30am & 1-3pm at the Burnstein Hall
Join Chicago Botanic Garden volunteers as they arrange flowers. There is a workshop until August 30th to learn how to make these arrangements. All proceeds from the flower arrangements will benefit the Chicago Botanic Garden.

Visit the zoo this weekend and catch performances by different Old Town School of Folk musicians. There will be three different performances scheduled at 10am, 11:30am and 2:00pm.

Formerly known as Ravenswood Remix, Remix Chicago is a recycled art fair that allows people to learn to reuse and recycle things in different ways. Various workshops, bands playing Indie music and food vendors will be there.

Ready, Pet, Go!
Chicago Children’s Museum

Although you won’t see an actual pet there, the Chicago Children’s museum has an exhibit that allows parents to learn the benefits of having a pet while children get to dress up. There will be supersized pet structures and different animal costumes that the children will be able to use. One of these structures is the coop, an urban inspired chicken coop.
