Norwegian American Hospital Appoints New Chief Nursing Officer

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - BusinessNorwegian American Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Fortney, MS, RN, CNRN, NE-BC, as its new Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care. Fortney joins the management executive team with a great wealth of knowledge of nursing and experience in the health care industry.

As the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care, Fortney has a number of responsibilities. He is accountable for leading and overseeing the entire nursing division of the hospital. He ensures that the highest standards of quality and patient safety are being followed and adhered to. Fortney brings a tremendous amount of strategic vision to empower the nursing staff at Norwegian American Hospital and makes sure patients receive the best possible care.

Prior to joining the team at Norwegian American Hospital, Fortney most recently was the Director of Orthopedics and Neuroscience, Neuro Testing and Sleep Disorder Centers at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. In this position, Fortney oversaw all aspects of the hospital’s orthopedic and neuroscience service lines. Fortney holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and a Master of Science in Nursing from DePaul University in Chicago.
